Sheffield United owners make first public comments as fans respond
Sheffield United’s owners have moved to reassure supporters after recent off-field speculation, insisting the club remains focused on backing Chris Wilder and preparing for the new Championship season.
Questions have surrounded the Blades in recent weeks following claims from former owner Prince Abdullah, who alleged that outstanding payments linked to the club’s takeover have yet to be settled.
The situation has sparked concern among supporters, but Sheffield United’s current ownership group has responded with a statement aimed at calming fears.
The club stressed that all operations continue to comply with EFL regulations and insisted the ongoing off-field issues will not affect plans for the remainder of the summer transfer window.

“We have operated within EFL rules since the day we arrived, and that has not changed,” the statement read.
“We understand the responsibility that comes with owning a club like Sheffield United and take our obligations to the League and the wider regulatory framework very seriously.
“None of this changes our excitement for the season ahead. Chris has built a team that supporters can be proud of, and we remain fully committed to backing him and the squad as preparations continue. There is still plenty of work to do this summer, and that’s exactly what we’re focused on.”
The statement comes after Sheffield United sanctioned the sale of Andre Brooks to Norwich City, a move expected to provide additional funds as Wilder continues to reshape his squad.
Despite the reassurance, supporters are likely to reserve judgment until the transfer window closes. With parachute payments reducing, many fans understand the club may not be among the Championship’s biggest spenders.
However, expectations remain high that the ownership will provide Wilder with the resources needed to build a squad capable of challenging for promotion, with another strong campaign firmly in the club’s sights.
