Philippe Clement shares his thoughts on the major talking points from Norwich City F.C.’s loss to Ipswich Town F.C.
Philippe Clement addressed the major talking points following Norwich City F.C.’s 2-0 Championship derby loss to Ipswich Town F.C..
An early penalty from Jaden Philogene, which sparked controversy, along with a close-range finish from George Hirst, secured victory for promotion-chasing Ipswich and completed a league double over their rivals, while also claiming local bragging rights.

Clement was particularly critical of the penalty decision, insisting that Jack Taylor had gone down too easily following a challenge from Anis Ben Slimane. He accused the Ipswich midfielder of exaggerating the contact to win the spot-kick, arguing that such decisions encourage similar behaviour if not reviewed properly.
The Norwich boss suggested that the incident would not have stood under VAR scrutiny, stressing the need for better support for referees in key moments that can ultimately decide matches.
Adding to his frustrations, Clement was booked during the game, a caution that will result in a touchline suspension for the upcoming fixture against Bristol City F.C..
Speaking after the match, he highlighted how crucial decisions continue to influence outcomes, calling for greater accuracy to maintain fairness in the game.
