Birmingham City reveals Chris Davies’ replacement as 52-year-old coaching star takes charge
Championship side Birmingham City have identified Lee Carsley as a leading candidate to replace under-pressure boss Chris Davies, sources told Football Insider.
Carsley, the current England Under-21s manager, is a close ally of director of football Craig Gardner. He previously turned down Birmingham, but is now said to be open to returning to the club where he formerly served as an assistant.

Birmingham have struggled this season despite last year’s record-breaking League One campaign, losing six of their last eight Championship games and sitting 16th, 13 points off the play-offs.
Carsley, 52, enjoyed a brief spell as interim England manager in 2024, winning five of six games, and has since been linked with several club opportunities.
