Martin O’Neill points out a significant worry following Celtic FC’s 1-0 triumph over St Mirren FC.
Celtic FC secured the win over St Mirren FC, but Martin O’Neill was more concerned about his team’s second-half performance than the result itself.
After a bright start and an early goal from Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Celtic looked set for a comfortable afternoon. However, they failed to build on their advantage as the tempo dropped and chances were missed.

O’Neill admitted the team’s energy levels worried him, especially as St Mirren began to dominate possession for long spells after the break. While Celtic showed resilience to hold on and keep a clean sheet, they were forced to defend deeper than expected.
The midfield lost its sharpness, the attack lacked penetration, and the game remained open due to the absence of a second goal.
Despite solid defensive displays from Auston Trusty and Liam Scales, along with a composed showing from Viljami Sinisalo, O’Neill made it clear improvements are needed ahead of the upcoming clash at Hampden.
