Latest on Sheffield Wednesday takeover: CEO appointment planned, sporting director options identified
Sheffield Wednesday are believed to have identified a new CEO while also drawing up a shortlist for a sporting director role as takeover talks progress.
Arise Capital Partners, led by David Storch, are pushing to finalise a deal after being named preferred bidders last month. Although supporters have experienced setbacks in the past, there are growing signs of optimism around S6.

Storch recently visited Sheffield and spoke openly about his growing connection to the city. According to reports, a chief executive has already been lined up to take charge of the club’s daily operations once the takeover is completed.
While the individual has not yet been publicly named, they are understood to have significant experience at a senior level in football. Plans are also in place to build a well-rounded board should the deal go through.
The club has been in administration since October and suffered relegation to League One, with a squad that struggled to compete in the Championship. Supporters are now hoping firm plans will be implemented ahead of the 2026/27 season to avoid another disappointing campaign.
