Kris Wigfield outlines stance on Arise Capital Partners LLC and signals Sheffield Wednesday intentions
Sheffield Wednesday are looking ahead to a more stable and ambitious future following their takeover by Arise Capital Partners LLC, with optimism growing around the club’s long-term direction.
Joint administrator Kris Wigfield has encouraged fans of Sheffield Wednesday F.C. to feel excited about what lies ahead, praising the professionalism and vision of the new ownership group led by David Storch.
Arise, fronted by Storch alongside his son Michael and consortium member Tom Costin, completed their long-awaited takeover last week, bringing an end to months of uncertainty surrounding the club. The new chairman addressed supporters at Hillsborough before the 2-1 win over West Bromwich Albion F.C., using the moment to outline his ambition of reconnecting the club with its fanbase and improving key facilities.
One of the immediate priorities highlighted was upgrading infrastructure, with even basic issues such as restoring reliable hot water at the stadium underlining the scale of the rebuild required after the previous regime under Dejphon Chansiri.
Despite the challenges, early signs suggest Arise are moving quickly to reshape the club’s structure. David Bruce has already been appointed as chief executive, and Wigfield expects further senior hires to follow, including a potential sporting or football director and additional executive roles.
Wigfield described Storch as a highly professional operator with a strong track record in the aviation sector, adding that the new owners are committed to bringing in the right expertise across all levels of the club.
Beyond the boardroom, investment is also expected in both Hillsborough and the training ground, with plans aimed at modernising facilities and laying the foundation for sustained progress.
While the road ahead remains long, there is a growing belief that Sheffield Wednesday are finally moving in the right direction—giving supporters genuine reason for optimism in the years to come.
