Chris Waddle has weighed in on Henrik Pedersen’s position at Sheffield Wednesday, giving a considered verdict amid ongoing uncertainty surrounding the manager
Former Sheffield Wednesday star Chris Waddle has voiced strong support for Owls manager Henrik Pedersen despite ongoing uncertainty surrounding his future at Hillsborough.
The Wednesday legend believes Pedersen deserves the chance to remain in charge next season, arguing that it would be unfair to judge him based solely on the extraordinary challenges of the current campaign.

After Danny Röhl left last July, Pedersen stepped up from assistant to lead Sheffield Wednesday into the 2025/26 season. However, the club was already dealing with serious off-field issues, including unpaid wages, a disrupted pre-season, and multiple embargoes. Matters deteriorated further when Wednesday entered administration for the first time in October.
With a depleted squad following numerous departures, results suffered badly and relegation soon became unavoidable. Despite managing only two wins in 46 Championship games, Pedersen earned widespread respect for keeping morale high under extremely difficult circumstances.
His leadership has drawn praise from staff and those within the club, with many believing he deserves the opportunity to lead Wednesday forward under new owners Arise Capital Partners LLC. Waddle shares that view, commending both Pedersen and the players for refusing to give up during a turbulent period.
