John McGlynn criticises Falkirk’s “wrong” defending as Rangers complete a comeback victory

A furious John McGlynn blasted Falkirk’s “criminal” defending after their 6-3 loss to Rangers in the Scottish Premiership.

Falkirk made a flying start, racing into a 2-0 lead through strikes from Ben Broggio and Finn Yeats. However, their momentum shifted just before half-time when Tochi Chukwuani pulled one back after the hosts switched off, mistakenly thinking the ball had gone out of play.

That moment proved decisive as Rangers took control in the second half, scoring four more times in quick succession. Youssef Chermiti levelled the match early after the restart, before Nico Raskin completed the turnaround minutes later. Substitute Bojan Miovski added another with a free header, capitalising on poor marking.

Although Miller briefly reduced the deficit from the penalty spot, it made little difference as Chermiti netted again soon after, with Miovski also grabbing his second to seal a dominant comeback.

McGlynn admitted his side handed Rangers the initiative. He said they were in control at 2-0 but allowed their opponents back into the game with careless defending and a lack of focus. He criticised his players for failing to compete for the ball and for conceding soft goals, especially from set-piece situations.

The Falkirk boss also pointed to poor decision-making in possession, explaining that his team tried to force play through central areas and were repeatedly caught on the counter-attack. He described the goals conceded as “cheap” and labelled the overall defending “criminal.”

Despite a controversial moment where Jayden Meghoma avoided a red card for a last-man challenge, McGlynn had no complaints about the referee’s decision, insisting he did not believe it warranted a dismissal.
