Henrik Pedersen outlines Sheffield Wednesday’s transfer priorities

Sheffield Wednesday manager Henrik Pedersen has confirmed the club remains focused on strengthening its attack as recruitment efforts continue during the summer transfer window.

The Owls have already been one of the busiest clubs in the EFL, bringing in nine new faces, including the return of club favourite Barry Bannan, following a major squad rebuild.

Despite the impressive business completed so far, Pedersen has admitted there is still work to do before the transfer window closes.

Speaking during Sheffield Wednesday’s pre-season training camp in Hungary, the Danish coach revealed the club is prioritising attacking reinforcements but does not expect any new arrivals to join the squad during the current trip.

Pedersen praised the recruitment team’s efforts behind the scenes and expressed confidence that the club is working to secure the right additions rather than rushing into deals.

Wednesday are currently preparing for the new campaign with a five-day training camp in Budapest before travelling to Austria for a behind-closed-doors friendly against Stoke City.

The 29-man travelling squad includes plenty of defensive options, while the attacking department remains relatively light. George Brown missed the trip through injury, and striker Ike Ugbo was also absent.

With several new signings already arriving from Championship clubs as well as Scotland and Belgium’s top divisions, Sheffield Wednesday are expected to continue targeting quality rather than quantity as they look to complete their summer rebuild.
