Fresh reaction emerges at Birmingham City F.C. after new Wayne Rooney revelation
Wayne Rooney has opened up on what he now sees as his biggest managerial regret, admitting the timing of his spell at Birmingham City F.C. was not right.
The former England striker, now appearing regularly on BBC coverage of the 2026 World Cup, reflected on his coaching journey and pointed to his decision to replace John Eustace at Birmingham as one he would rethink.

Rooney took charge with the club sitting in the Championship play-off places, but a poor run of form saw the Blues slide down the table during his short spell in charge.
His comments have sparked fresh reaction among supporters and pundits, with many still viewing that period as one of the club’s most difficult recent chapters.
Some believe both Rooney and the club’s ownership made mistakes during that time, especially given Eustace’s later success elsewhere, including with Blackburn Rovers F.C. and now Derby County F.C..
With Birmingham now looking ahead under current boss Chris Davies, the focus is on moving forward — but Rooney’s latest admission has brought that controversial chapter back into the spotlight.
