Ally McCoist responds to Jody Morris’s Hearts-over-Rangers title claim

Ally McCoist has firmly dismissed claims made by Jody Morris regarding his stance on the Scottish Premiership title race involving Rangers F.C..

Rangers remain locked in a tight battle for the title with Derek McInnes’ side Heart of Midlothian F.C., with just one point separating the teams ahead of the post-split fixtures. While many neutrals are backing Hearts to break the dominance of the Old Firm, McCoist has made it clear he does not share that view.

The debate was sparked when Morris suggested that, given McCoist’s friendship with McInnes, he might secretly want Hearts to lift the title. However, the former Rangers striker strongly rejected that idea, insisting his loyalty remains entirely with his old club.

Speaking on talkSPORT, McCoist laughed off the suggestion, making it clear he would never support another side over Rangers in a title race. Morris, however, doubled down on his position, admitting he would like to see McInnes succeed and praised the job Hearts have done this season.

Despite his close relationship with McInnes, McCoist reiterated that his priority is seeing Rangers crowned champions. He acknowledged the impressive campaign Hearts have put together but stressed that his allegiance lies with the Ibrox side.

There is, however, one scenario where McCoist might shift his support. If Rangers fall out of contention before the final day, he would prefer Hearts to win the title rather than see Celtic F.C. come out on top and move ahead in the all-time title count.

As things stand, Rangers are still firmly in the race under Danny Röhl, who has revitalised the team’s form. With backing expected from figures such as Andrew Cavenagh, there is growing optimism around the club’s direction.

Regardless of the outcome, the closing stages of the season promise to be dramatic, with Rangers determined to fight until the very end for the title.
