Celtic secure futures of three rising stars with new contracts at Parkhead
Celtic F.C. have confirmed that three of their promising young players — Owen Hartington, Aidan Rice and Cole Crawford — have signed new deals as the club continue to invest in their future.

The trio, who have been regulars for Jonny Hayes’ B team in the Lowland League, have all committed their futures to Celtic Park as the club strengthens its pathway from academy to senior football. The B team finished 10th last season, with several youngsters gaining valuable experience.

Midfielder Hartington and goalkeeper Rice have both extended their stays until 2028, underlining the club’s belief in their long-term development. Defender Crawford has also signed fresh terms after impressing as a consistent presence in the B team setup.
Celtic’s recent focus on youth development has already seen players like Colby Donovan and Dane Murray make progress towards senior involvement, reinforcing the belief that there is a clear route from academy level into the first-team environment.
Manager Martin O’Neill has also recently suggested that more opportunities may need to be created for younger players to break through into the senior squad.
A club statement confirmed Hartington’s new deal, highlighting his progress from the Under-18s into the B team, where he has already made over 20 appearances and scored his first goal in a 5–1 win over Clyde.
Rice’s extension was also welcomed, with the goalkeeper continuing to develop through B team football, first-team training involvement and loan experience.
Crawford’s deal was similarly praised, with the defender becoming a regular in the B team and continuing to grow as part of the club’s youth defensive unit.
Overall, the contracts are seen as another clear sign of Celtic’s long-term planning as they aim to build a strong foundation of homegrown talent for the future.
