Police respond after disorder reported following Middlesbrough vs Millwall clash
Cleveland Police have issued a statement after reports of disorder involving supporters following Middlesbrough FC’s defeat to Millwall FC.
The incident is believed to have taken place near Middlesbrough railway station shortly after the match, with reports suggesting rival fans were involved in clashes as they left the stadium.

Police confirmed they were alerted to disturbances in the busy transport area, where large numbers of supporters typically gather after games. While multiple individuals were reportedly involved, authorities have stated that no injuries have been confirmed at this stage.
One man has been arrested on suspicion of violent disorder and remains in custody as investigations continue.
A strong police presence had already been in place for the fixture, including specialist officers tasked with gathering evidence. Following the incident, a full investigation has now been launched to establish what happened and identify any others involved.

Detective Chief Superintendent Anne-Marie Salwey confirmed that officers are reviewing footage and gathering witness statements to build a clear picture of events. She also stressed that violence has no place in football or the wider community.
Police are now appealing for witnesses or anyone with relevant footage—such as mobile phone or dash-cam recordings—to come forward, as inquiries remain ongoing.
Despite the incident, authorities noted that the majority of supporters attended the match peacefully, with efforts continuing to ensure safety at future fixtures.
