South Korean media praise Kim Min-su after Rangers debut victory over Aberdeen

Kim Min-su has already attracted plenty of attention after making his Rangers debut in Sunday’s victory over Aberdeen.

Derek McInnes wasted no time throwing the South Korean international into action at Pittodrie, just days after Rangers completed his £8.5million transfer from Girona. The 20-year-old arrived in Glasgow with a strong reputation from his time in Spain, and his performance during the Light Blues’ 1-0 win offered supporters an early glimpse of what he can bring to the team.

Kim’s display has also generated significant interest back in South Korea. Rangers supporters have been encouraged by what they saw from the youngster, while his impressive start could also strengthen his chances of earning a first senior appearance for his country.

The versatile attacker has yet to represent South Korea at senior level, but that opportunity could now be getting closer.

Kim Min-su becomes a talking point in South Korea

Kim was among Rangers’ standout performers against Aberdeen, playing a major role in their attacking efforts.

His performance did not go unnoticed by the Rangers faithful, while his debut also caught the attention of football followers in South Korea. Joel Kim, a journalist who closely follows the South Korean national team, wrote on X: “Over in Seoul, heads are turning after Kim Min-su’s impressive Rangers debut.”

Kim’s performance was also prominent among the leading Korean football stories following Rangers’ win at Pittodrie. Having committed £8.5million to bring the former Girona player to Ibrox, Rangers will be hoping his early impact is the beginning of a long and successful spell in Scotland.

Kim Min-su’s numbers against Aberdeen

Kim has made an encouraging beginning to his Rangers career, operating in the No.10 position and becoming heavily involved in the team’s attacking play.

McInnes deployed Djeidi Gassama and Findlay Curtis on the flanks, with Lawrence Shankland occupying the central striker role. That allowed Kim to operate behind the striker and influence the game from an advanced position.

The South Korean midfielder was involved in much of Rangers’ attacking work. According to Sofascore, he completed 17 of his 18 passes in the opposition half and registered two key passes.

He also attempted four shots, with three finding the target, while his expected goals figure stood at 0.66.

Kim recorded 44 touches during his debut and successfully completed three of his five attempted dribbles.

Based on what he produced in his first appearance, Rangers may have secured an excellent addition to their squad with the signing of the 20-year-old.
