Sergej Jakirović gives his assessment of Hull City’s 2-1 loss to Sheffield United and questions the red card shown to John Lundstram
Sergej Jakirović described Hull City’s 2-1 defeat to Sheffield United as “unbelievable,” insisting his side deserved more from the game.
He felt Hull were in control after taking the lead through Oli McBurnie, but pointed to a turning point with John Lundstram’s dismissal. Jakirović argued the second yellow card was harsh, claiming the referee’s positioning contributed to the foul and didn’t warrant a booking.

He also questioned the penalty decision that led to the equaliser, suggesting there were multiple fouls from both teams and such incidents occur regularly without punishment.
Frustrated, he said emotions were difficult to control given his team’s dominance, while also defending Lundstram’s reaction in the earlier clash with Mark McGuinness, calling it a natural human response.
Jakirović added that the heated atmosphere and fan interactions were part of football, even as Hull left empty-handed despite their performance.
