Rangers striker Lawrence Shankland sent warning message despite international impact
Lawrence Shankland is enjoying an impressive spell following his move to Rangers, with the striker continuing his strong form on the international stage for Scotland.
The forward cut short his summer break to complete a move to his boyhood club after his contract with Hearts expired, joining Rangers on a free transfer. He quickly made an impact, scoring twice at Hampden Park as Scotland secured a 4-1 victory over Curacao, while teammate Findlay Curtis also netted his first senior international goal.

Scotland have since travelled to North America ahead of their next fixtures, with Shankland expected to be among several Rangers players featuring for Steve Clarke’s squad.
However, despite his recent performances and growing influence, his place in the starting XI is not guaranteed. Clarke still has several attacking options available, including Che Adams and Lyndon Dykes, meaning competition for the striker role remains intense.
Pundit Keith Jackson noted in his Daily Record column that while Shankland’s form and confidence are clear, selection decisions under Clarke are rarely straightforward. He highlighted that the Scotland boss may not settle on an obvious starting forward just yet.
Shankland has scored six goals in 19 appearances for Scotland, with three of those coming in his last 103 minutes of international action. His crucial strike against Denmark remains a standout moment in his international career.
Although some believe he should now lead the line, others argue Clarke may still lean towards more experienced or preferred options. Nonetheless, Shankland arrives at the tournament in strong form, boosted further by his recent move to Rangers.
