Qarabağ boss Qurban Qurbanov has once again addressed the future of Camilo Durán following his side’s 3-0 victory over Vestri

Qurban Qurbanov has once again praised Camilo Durán following Qarabağ’s 3-0 victory over Vestri, highlighting the qualities the striker brought to his side as his move to Celtic F.C. edges closer.

Speaking after the match, Qurbanov reflected on his attacking options and acknowledged Durán’s importance to the team. While he did not provide any fresh information regarding the transfer, he made it clear the Colombian’s departure will leave a noticeable gap in the squad.

The Qarabağ manager explained that Durán possessed unique attributes which the coaching staff tried to maximise whenever possible. He admitted the club would have preferred to keep the striker but added he remains pleased with the attacking players currently available.

Those remarks underline the high regard in which Durán was held during his spell in Azerbaijan.

The 24-year-old has already been spotted training with Celtic during the club’s pre-season camp in Portugal, although confirmation of his transfer has yet to arrive. Qurbanov had previously indicated the deal was close to completion but not officially finalised, and his latest comments do not suggest that position has changed.

His praise also offers another indication of the type of player Celtic are about to acquire. Rather than viewing Durán as a prospect for the future, Qarabağ relied on him as an established first-team contributor whose all-round game extended beyond simply scoring goals.

Celtic manager Martin O’Neill has already spoken about the striker’s physical presence and ability to retain possession, while Qurbanov’s assessment reinforces the belief that Durán can provide strength, link-up play and valuable depth in attack.

Although Qarabağ secured a comfortable victory without him, Qurbanov’s comments made it clear the Colombian’s influence will not be easily replaced.
