Five people have been arrested following disorder during the EFL meeting between Wolverhampton Wanderers and Port Vale at Molineux on Friday.

Four people, aged between 17 and 45, were arrested on suspicion of affray after disorder broke out in the away section during the match.

A fifth person, a 17-year-old boy, was arrested on suspicion of causing intentional harassment, alarm or distress following an alleged inappropriate gesture towards a female spectator.

West Midlands Police confirmed that all five individuals have since been released on bail while further inquiries continue.

A spokesperson for the force said: “Our investigation is continuing and we would like to speak to anyone who saw what happened and could help with our inquiries.

“Scenes like this are completely unacceptable at football matches and we will continue to work with clubs and the EFL to take strong action against this type of offending.”

Police are continuing to appeal for witnesses who may have seen the incidents or have information that could assist with the investigation.
