Major Update Looms for Swansea Over Top World Cup Star

Swansea City are on the brink of completing the signing of striker Ross Stewart, with the experienced forward expected to arrive as the club’s sixth addition of the summer transfer window.

The 30-year-old is set to join the Swans on a free transfer after departing Southampton at the conclusion of last season.

His arrival is likely to increase speculation surrounding the future of leading striker Zan Vipotnik, who has attracted interest from clubs in England and abroad, including Premier League side West Ham United and Portuguese giants Benfica.

Despite the growing attention, no formal move has yet been made for the Slovenia international, and sources within Swansea maintain that the club’s stance on Vipotnik has not changed even as Stewart closes in on a move to South Wales.

Stewart brings valuable Championship experience, having scored 19 goals in 44 appearances in the division.

Reports suggest he declined the opportunity to extend his stay at Southampton following a campaign in which the Saints’ promotion hopes were derailed by the widely discussed “Spygate” controversy.

Speaking during Wednesday evening’s Fans’ Forum, sporting director Ben Stevens confirmed Swansea were close to announcing another signing, although he stopped short of revealing the player’s identity.

He expressed optimism that the deal would be completed soon and hinted that additional reinforcements could follow if further funds become available, suggesting the club is still working to strengthen the squad before the transfer deadline.

Swansea also remain in negotiations over Valencia midfielder Andre Almeida. While the player continues to feature prominently on the club’s shortlist, reports linking him with an imminent move are believed to be premature, with discussions still ongoing.

Head coach Vitor Matos explained that Swansea’s recruitment strategy is focused on adding players who offer qualities currently missing from the squad rather than simply increasing numbers.

He praised both Stewart and Almeida, describing them as footballers capable of improving the team’s overall level.

Meanwhile, the Swans continue to pursue highly rated Senegalese youngster Ousseynou Fall Seck.

The Welsh club are thought to be in a strong position to complete a deal, although the player is taking his time to consider multiple offers before deciding on his next destination.
