Lewis Ferguson responds to Rangers F.C. links as Derek Ferguson offers Bologna F.C. 1909 insight
Lewis Ferguson is not expected to make a move to Rangers F.C., even if he leaves Bologna F.C. 1909 this summer, according to his father Derek Ferguson.
The Scotland international has found consistent game time harder to come by this season, despite captaining Bologna to Coppa Italia success last year. While he has featured regularly in the Europa League, his Serie A appearances have largely come from the bench, with the Italian side struggling to match last season’s form.

Although both his father and uncle Barry Ferguson have strong ties to Rangers, and there had previously been suggestions he could follow in their footsteps, a move to Ibrox now appears unlikely. Barry Ferguson has even admitted that opportunity may have passed.
Derek Ferguson hinted that it could be the right time for his son to seek a new challenge after four years in Italy, but stressed that any potential move would likely be away from Scotland.
Despite his reduced role, Ferguson remains an important player in key matches, often featuring in major Serie A and European fixtures. However, with Bologna’s inconsistent performances and rotation under manager Vincenzo Italiano, questions remain over his long-term future at the club.
While the midfielder still enjoys life in Bologna, the limited playing time could push him toward a move elsewhere, as he looks to make the most of his career.
