How Rangers star Ryan Naderi earns Czechia media praise after England debut
Ryan Naderi was handed his first competitive start for Czechia as he lined up against England at Wembley on Tuesday night.
The Rangers striker was selected from the beginning for Santi Denia’s side in their final Nations League fixture of the international break, earning his first full appearance for the national team after making his debut against Spain.
Czechia managed to frustrate England for large periods of the opening half-hour, but their resistance was eventually broken when Vladimir Coufal turned the ball into his own net.
Naderi found himself isolated for much of the contest as Czechia struggled to create chances, while Harry Kane struck twice to complete a comfortable 3-0 victory for the hosts.
Despite the disappointing result, the Rangers forward has clearly made a positive impression on Denia, who has wasted little time introducing him into the senior side following his excellent form at Ibrox.
Mixed verdict for Naderi after Wembley test
Naderi’s first appearance for Czechia came against Spain, when he was introduced from the bench for the final 33 minutes.
The 23-year-old was given a considerably tougher assignment at Wembley, with England providing a much sterner test.
There were still encouraging signs from the Rangers attacker, however. iSport editor Michal Kvasnica praised Naderi’s ability to play with his back to goal and highlighted his work rate, while also suggesting that his potential is clear.
Naderi was awarded a 5/10 rating by iSport, with the publication noting that he was largely left to fend for himself in attack. His passing offered a few glimpses of what he can provide, leaving interest in how he develops during future international appearances.
Former Czech striker Ludek Zelenka also recognised Naderi’s willingness to battle, although he was critical of the overall performance from Denia’s team.
Sport.cz were slightly more positive with their grading, giving the Rangers man a 4/5. Their system works in reverse, meaning the lower the number, the stronger the assessment.
The outlet noted that Naderi battled hard but ultimately found England too difficult an opponent to overcome.
Rangers will be delighted with Naderi’s progress
Czechia’s next Nations League fixtures will come in November, when they face Spain and Croatia.
Naderi’s rapid introduction into the senior setup suggests he could remain firmly in Denia’s plans, particularly if he continues to impress for Rangers.
His performances in Glasgow have already earned him international recognition, and regular involvement with Czechia could provide another platform for the striker to develop.
For Rangers, the situation is equally encouraging.
The Ibrox club reportedly paid around £5 million to bring Naderi to Scotland in January 2026, and his emergence at both club and international level could significantly increase his value.
If the forward continues on his current trajectory, Rangers could eventually find themselves sitting on a hugely valuable asset.
