Hearts boss Derek McInnes described the latest round of Scottish Premiership fixtures as a “big weekend” for both his side and Celtic F.C. after Rangers F.C. were beaten by Motherwell F.C..

Martin O’Neill’s Celtic had already secured a 3-1 win over Falkirk F.C. at Celtic Park, increasing the pressure on their title rivals to respond. While Hearts edged a 2-1 victory over nine-man Hibernian F.C., Rangers suffered a dramatic 3-2 defeat to Jens Berthel Askou’s Motherwell, who struck late at Ibrox Stadium.

McInnes admitted the results worked in their favour but warned of the challenges ahead, stressing the need for focus. He also highlighted the importance of winning early, particularly in derby matches, to build momentum and confidence.

Looking ahead, Celtic travel to Easter Road to face Hibs, while Hearts host Rangers at Tynecastle Park in a clash that could prove decisive in the title race. Reflecting on the weekend, McInnes said it was significant for both Hearts and Celtic given Rangers’ slip.
