Gordon Strachan stuns fans with surprise Celtic comeback statement
Gordon Strachan has been closely following Martin O’Neill’s return to the dugout at Celtic F.C., but insists it has had the opposite effect on his own thoughts about management.
O’Neill’s comeback this season has seen Celtic competing strongly on multiple fronts, with a league title still within reach and a Scottish Cup final to look forward to. For someone at his stage in his career, it has certainly drawn attention across the game.
Strachan, who has previously managed Celtic and understands the intense demands of the role, recognises exactly what it takes to keep a team performing consistently over a long campaign.
However, rather than inspiring a return, watching O’Neill back in action has reinforced Strachan’s belief that his own time in management is firmly behind him. He admitted that seeing the workload and pressure involved has only confirmed his decision to stay away from the touchline.
Speaking about his long-time friend, Strachan joked about O’Neill’s familiar post-match manner, suggesting that while he may appear relaxed or light-hearted, he fully knows what he is doing behind the scenes.
Despite their close relationship and admiration for each other, Strachan made it clear that he has no desire to follow the same path back into management.
