Daizen Maeda gives Celtic boost ahead of crucial Rangers fixture
Daizen Maeda appears set to hand Celtic F.C. a major boost ahead of this weekend’s clash with Rangers F.C. after fears over his fitness eased significantly.
Concerns initially surfaced following Celtic’s victory over Hibernian F.C. when the forward was seen limping late in the game before removing his boot while heading down the tunnel. Given the importance of the stage of the season, supporters immediately feared the injury could sideline one of the team’s most influential players.

Those worries intensified further after Maeda missed the club’s Player of the Year ceremony, leading to speculation that the issue may have been more serious than first believed.
However, interim manager Martin O’Neill has now delivered a far more positive update, revealing that the attacker is recovering well and is expected to be available for Sunday’s showdown.
O’Neill explained that Maeda has been progressing strongly in recent days and expressed confidence that the Japanese international will be ready to feature. He also praised the forward’s recent performances, highlighting the renewed energy and impact he has brought to the side in recent weeks.
The timing could hardly be more important for Celtic, who head into a crucial fixture knowing victory could prove decisive in the Scottish Premiership title race.
Maeda’s sharp form, relentless pressing, and attacking threat have made him one of Celtic’s standout performers during the run-in, and losing him at this point would have been a huge setback.
Instead, it now looks increasingly likely Celtic will have one of their most important players available exactly when they need him most.
