West Ham agree terms to re-sign Axel Disasi from Chelsea

West Ham have reached an agreement to bring Axel Disasi back from Chelsea on a permanent deal after his successful loan spell at the London Stadium.

The 28-year-old defender spent the second half of last season with the Hammers, making 17 appearances and quickly becoming a popular figure among supporters despite the club’s eventual relegation.

Although there had been speculation that Disasi was reluctant to play Championship football, the latest developments suggest a return to East London is now firmly on the cards.

West Ham are eager to strengthen their defence as they target an immediate return to the Premier League, and the French international is viewed as a key addition thanks to his experience and familiarity with the squad.

Disasi produced a number of solid defensive displays during his loan spell, averaging one tackle, 2.29 recoveries and 3.51 clearances per league game. He also won 63.3 percent of his ground duels and 58.1 percent of his aerial battles.

Comfortable in possession, the centre-back completed 86.6 percent of his passes and maintained a perfect dribble success rate whenever he carried the ball out from defence.

While an agreement has reportedly been reached, there are still details to resolve before the transfer is officially completed, with West Ham hopeful of finalising the move in the coming days.
