Celtic confirm arrival of Landon Emenalo
Celtic complete Landon Emenalo loan signing from Chelsea
Celtic have added another player to their squad, bringing in Landon Emenalo from Chelsea on a season-long loan.
The 18-year-old left-back has developed through the youth systems at Monaco and Chelsea and has established himself as an important member of the Premier League club’s Under-21 side. He has also been included in Chelsea’s senior matchday squads.
Following the completion of his temporary move to Glasgow, Emenalo spoke positively about the opportunity to represent the Scottish champions and admitted he was impressed by the size and stature of the club.
The youngster said the scale of Celtic became particularly clear when he first visited, while the passion of the supporters also made an impression on him. He is determined to repay that backing by working hard and contributing whenever he gets the opportunity.
Emenalo also revealed that he has already spoken with Celtic manager Martin O’Neill and is looking forward to learning from the experienced coach.
The defender believes his experience at Chelsea has prepared him for the demands at Celtic, particularly the expectation of competing for trophies. He is now eager to make an impact during his spell in Scotland.
O’Neill is equally enthusiastic about the arrival, explaining that Celtic had monitored Emenalo for some time before deciding to pursue the loan deal.
The Celtic boss believes the teenager possesses several qualities that can strengthen his squad. His pace and athleticism were highlighted, while O’Neill also praised his composure when in possession.
Although primarily a defender, Emenalo is also capable of pushing forward and contributing in attacking areas, giving Celtic another option on the left side of the team.
O’Neill added that the youngster’s determination to succeed should help him settle quickly, while his arrival will provide greater competition and depth in the position.
Celtic will now hope Emenalo can translate his promising development at Chelsea into strong performances during his season at Parkhead.
