Breaking news: Birmingham City seal first summer signing in £6m transfer deal
Birmingham City have completed their first signing of the summer after securing Jhon Solis on a permanent deal from Girona following his impressive loan spell at St Andrew’s.
The Colombian midfielder, who joined Blues on loan in January, quickly established himself as an important figure in Chris Davies’ side and has now officially returned to the club ahead of the new campaign.

Birmingham are understood to have activated an option to buy Solis last week in a deal believed to be worth around £6 million, making the 21-year-old the club’s first arrival of the transfer window.
Solis made a strong impression during the second half of last season, featuring 18 times across all competitions as Birmingham pushed forward in the Championship.
The midfielder also netted his first goal for the club during a 2-1 victory over Bristol City in April, further strengthening the case for a permanent move.
Blues head coach Chris Davies had previously made no secret of his desire to keep Solis at the club, repeatedly praising the youngster’s impact and development during his temporary spell.
That ambition has now been rewarded, with Solis set to play a key role in Birmingham’s plans for the 2026/27 season as the club looks to build on last term’s progress.
