Andy Murray delivers take on tight Premiership title race

Andy Murray has sparked debate after admitting it would be a “good thing” for Scottish football if Heart of Midlothian F.C. lifted the Scottish Premiership title—provided Hibernian F.C. beat them in this weekend’s Edinburgh Derby.

With Derek McInnes’ Hearts currently leading a tight three-way race alongside Rangers F.C. and Celtic F.C., just three points separate the contenders as the title fight heats up.

Despite being a lifelong Hibs supporter, Murray admitted a Hearts triumph would inject fresh excitement into Scottish football, breaking the long-standing dominance of Celtic and Rangers. He also pointed to growing global interest in the league, suggesting a new champion could further boost its appeal.

However, the former world No.1 made his loyalties clear ahead of Sunday’s derby clash at Easter Road, insisting he hopes Hibs can derail Hearts’ title push.

Elsewhere this weekend, Celtic host Falkirk F.C. in Glasgow, while Rangers face Motherwell F.C. as the title race edges closer to a dramatic conclusion.
