Alan Brazil hits out at Celtic board amid growing criticism of Martin O’Neill

Martin O’Neill is facing arguably the biggest challenge of his second spell in charge of Celtic after a difficult run of results.

The Celtic manager has attracted criticism following another defeat to Rangers, with questions being raised about the team’s performance and his decision-making. However, talkSPORT pundit Alan Brazil believes the blame should not be placed entirely on O’Neill.

Brazil was particularly frustrated by Celtic’s lack of competitiveness during their latest Old Firm defeat. He felt Rangers consistently won the individual battles and showed greater determination throughout the match.

“I can’t accept every loose ball they won,” Brazil said. “Every 50-50, they won. Even some of the balls they didn’t deserve to win, they won. They just wanted it more.”

The former Scotland international was also highly critical of Celtic’s midfield, arguing that the team lacked both energy and aggression.

“What about the midfield? The midfield is garbage. Sorry, I don’t like slagging people off, but the midfield is garbage. No legs and no fight.”

Brazil compared the current side with former Celtic midfield leaders such as Roy Keane, Roy Aitken and Scott Brown, saying those players would still compete fiercely even when they were not performing at their best.

“Even if you aren’t playing well, they would be biting into tackles and getting into each other’s faces,” he added.
