Callum Osmand breaks silence on Celtic future amid West Ham links

Callum Osmand is determined to remain at Celtic and compete for a regular place under Martin O’Neill despite attracting interest from West Ham.

The 20-year-old forward ended a frustrating debut season on a high by scoring Celtic’s third goal in their Premiership title-clinching victory over Hearts last month. It marked only his second senior goal for the club after an injury-hit campaign that limited his opportunities and delayed his progress into the first team.

A serious hamstring injury suffered in November restricted Osmand to just four senior appearances during the 2025/26 season, but the youngster now appears firmly back in Celtic’s plans.

O’Neill showed faith in the striker during the closing stages of the title race and is expected to continue involving him after returning as the club’s permanent manager.

Despite reported interest from West Ham, Osmand is understood to favour staying at Parkhead rather than pursuing a move away.

The Hammers, now rebuilding following relegation from the Premier League under Nuno Espírito Santo, are believed to be monitoring the young attacker as they reshape their squad for life in the Championship. However, Osmand is reportedly more focused on establishing himself at Celtic, especially with changes expected in the club’s attacking options this summer.

Both player and club appear aligned over his future, with Celtic reluctant to lose a promising talent they view as part of their long-term plans.

After enduring injury setbacks last season, Osmand is expected to prioritise a strong pre-season in a bid to force his way into O’Neill’s attacking setup and earn more consistent minutes in the upcoming campaign.

While Osmand looks likely to stay, Celtic could still see movement elsewhere in the squad.

Midfielder Reo Hatate is reportedly edging closer to an exit after falling out of favour during the latter stages of last season. The Japan international struggled for opportunities under O’Neill, failing to start a post-split Premiership match and missing out entirely on the squad for both the title decider against Hearts and the Scottish Cup final.

Celtic are believed to be open to selling Hatate this summer, viewing the coming transfer window as the ideal opportunity to cash in with two years still remaining on his contract. The 28-year-old is also said to be receptive to a fresh challenge away from Glasgow.
