Julian Araujo sparks fresh Celtic return talk after Instagram switch to Bournemouth

Julian Araujo has reignited speculation over his Celtic future after supporters noticed the defender has switched his Instagram profile back to Bournemouth following the end of his loan spell in Glasgow.

The right-back spent last season at Celtic on loan from the Premier League club, arriving to strengthen competition in defence, but his long-term future remains uncertain heading into the summer transfer window. Fans were quick to spot that Araujo has now updated his profile picture to one linked with Bournemouth and added the club back into his bio — a move that has naturally sparked fresh discussion among the Celtic support.

While the social media change may simply reflect the end of his temporary spell, it has still raised eyebrows given the uncertainty surrounding whether a return to Parkhead could happen. Araujo showed flashes of quality during his time at Celtic but struggled to cement a regular starting place, with injuries to Alistair Johnston offering opportunities without fully changing the pecking order.

Celtic were occasionally forced to reshuffle defensively, even turning to Auston Trusty at right-back during difficult periods, highlighting the lack of depth in the position. However, with Johnston now fit again and expected to remain first choice, any move to bring Araujo back — either permanently or on another loan — would likely come down to finances and squad planning.

For now, Araujo’s Instagram activity has only added fuel to the debate, with some supporters viewing it as a sign his Celtic chapter may already be over. Still, such updates are common for players returning to their parent clubs after loan spells, meaning the door may not yet be completely closed.
