Alex McLeish shares message from Ibrox board member over Danny Röhl uncertainty
Rangers boss Danny Röhl is already under scrutiny over his future, but the Ibrox board remain calm following comments from Alex McLeish.
A 2-1 defeat to Heart of Midlothian F.C. effectively ended Rangers’ Scottish Premiership title hopes, continuing a pattern of inconsistency since Röhl replaced Russell Martin in October. Losses to Motherwell F.C. and Hearts have raised concerns, with anything less than first place viewed as unacceptable.

Despite fan frustration, McLeish revealed he recently spoke with board member Fraser Thornton, who insisted the club is “headed in the right direction.” However, those conversations came before recent setbacks, and results have since intensified pressure.
McLeish also pointed to a lack of experienced guidance behind the scenes, noting how he benefited from working alongside Walter Smith. He suggested Rangers could benefit from a similar presence to support Röhl moving forward.
