Portsmouth-linked player subject of fresh transfer update with Leicester City and Blackburn Rovers in the race
Portsmouth have been linked with a move for Lorient striker Bamba Dieng, but the French club are keen to secure his future with a new contract.
Pompey are reportedly among several clubs monitoring the 21-cap Senegal international, alongside Oxford United, Blackburn Rovers, and Leicester City. Interest has also emerged from abroad, with St Pauli and Real Betis believed to be tracking the forward.

Dieng has been in outstanding form, scoring nine Ligue 1 goals in his last 14 appearances and 15 in 22 games across all competitions. His performances have played a key role in Lorient’s strong run in the league.
With his contract set to expire at the end of the season, uncertainty remains over his future. However, sporting director Laurent Koscielny has made it clear the club want to keep him, stating they will attempt to agree on a long-term extension if possible.
Koscielny also praised Dieng’s professionalism, particularly after a failed move last summer, which saw the forward briefly left out of matchday squads. Despite that setback, the striker has responded impressively and remains a key figure for the club.
