Danny Rohl reveals Emmanuel Fernandez’s transfer stance at Rangers ahead of summer window
Emmanuel Fernandez has been linked with a potential move away from Rangers F.C. ahead of the summer transfer window, but current indications suggest that Danny Rohl has no intention of sanctioning his departure at this stage.

Since arriving from Peterborough United last summer, Fernandez has gradually established himself as a key figure in Rohl’s squad. Although it took him time to fully settle at Ibrox, his performances in recent months have been impressive enough to cement his place as one of the manager’s preferred centre-backs.
His development has not gone unnoticed, with the defender now attracting growing interest from clubs in the Premier League as well as Germany ahead of the upcoming transfer window. His strong form has also been rewarded internationally, as he has recently broken into the Nigeria national team setup, further underlining his rising reputation.
Despite the increasing attention, Rangers are believed to be determined to keep hold of him. Speaking on the Transfer Insider podcast, it was noted that Fernandez has enjoyed an excellent debut season and has become a consistent starter under Rohl, highlighting just how important he has become to the team’s defensive structure.
It was also suggested that while interest from other clubs is expected given his performances, Rangers’ stance remains firm—they would prefer to retain him for at least a couple more seasons. With a contract running until 2029, the club are in a strong position and view him as a long-term asset.
There is also a wider ambition at Ibrox to build a squad capable of competing for major honours and potentially qualifying for the Champions League, meaning keeping key players like Fernandez is seen as essential to that project.
Further reports have also linked clubs such as West Ham United and Arsenal with interest in the defender, adding to speculation surrounding his future. However, Rangers remain unwilling to entertain serious offers at this stage.
Rohl himself has previously praised Fernandez, describing him as a “role model” for the type of player the club wants to develop, particularly given the significant increase in his value since arriving in Scotland.
For now, despite external interest, all signs point towards Rangers holding firm and keeping Fernandez as a central part of their plans moving forward.
