Scott Brown hits back at Kris Boyd as he tips Celtic for the title over Rangers and Hearts
Scott Brown built his reputation on intensity, leadership, and relentless drive during his playing days, and he believes those same qualities will be crucial for the current Celtic F.C. squad as the title race reaches its climax.
With the post-split fixtures about to begin, Brown remains confident that Martin O’Neill’s side can still go on to win the Scottish Premiership. He pointed to the significance of having key home matches against direct rivals, including a decisive clash with Heart of Midlothian F.C. on the final day, as a major factor in Celtic’s favour.

Brown stressed that Celtic’s experience in winning trophies could prove decisive, highlighting that many players—both on the pitch and among the coaching staff—know exactly what it takes to handle pressure situations. He believes that winning mentality is a big reason why the team remains firmly in the title race, even during a challenging campaign.
He also suggested that consistency will be difficult for all sides in such a tight run-in, predicting that every contender will drop points along the way. However, Brown expects Celtic to “grind out” results when it matters most, particularly at home, where he feels they will have a crucial advantage over rivals like Rangers F.C. and Hearts.
During a debate, Kris Boyd questioned Celtic’s chances by pointing out their struggles against top rivals at home this season. Brown, however, dismissed that concern, insisting that past results hold little relevance at this stage of the campaign, where momentum and mentality are more important.
Brown doubled down on his belief, naming Celtic as his pick to win the title ahead of Hearts and Rangers. He emphasised again that the upcoming home fixtures against both rivals could define the outcome of the season.
He also highlighted the importance of leadership within the squad, noting that players such as Callum McGregor, along with others in the team, have previously lifted the Premiership trophy and understand the demands of a title run-in.
Ultimately, while acknowledging the difficulty of the challenge ahead, Brown made it clear that Celtic’s experience, mentality, and key fixtures at home give them a strong chance of coming out on top once again.
