Birmingham City hit out at ‘wrong’ decision following defeat at Ipswich Town

Birmingham City were left incensed after a controversial refereeing decision denied them a late equaliser in their 2-1 defeat to Ipswich Town.

The Blues had taken the lead through Carlos Vicente, but Ipswich responded with goals from Ben Johnson and Kasey McAteer before half-time. The major talking point came in the 70th minute when Birmingham thought they had levelled, only for the effort to be ruled out.

Referee Adam Herczeg judged that Ibrahim Osman had allowed the ball to go out of play before delivering the cross that led to Dara O’Shea’s own goal. However, Birmingham disputed the call, sharing an image that appeared to show the ball remained in play.

Manager Chris Davies labelled the decision “scandalous,” insisting his side deserved at least a point after their performance. The defeat leaves Birmingham struggling in 15th place, while Ipswich climb to second in the table.
