David Watson of Kilmarnock emerges as a top Celtic transfer target
Celtic had been monitoring 21-year-old David Watson ahead of the January transfer window but opted not to make a move, planning instead to revisit the deal this summer when his contract expires. That patience may now cost them.
Italian side Bologna have entered the race, joining Rangers in a three-way battle for the highly-rated Kilmarnock midfielder.

Reports from Il Resto del Carlino suggest Bologna have already made enquiries about Watson, who has impressed at Kilmarnock despite his youth. Having broken into the first team at just 18 and even captained the side, Watson is now firmly on the radar of top clubs.
While his expiring contract presents an opportunity, competition will be fierce. Celtic may have had the early advantage, but they will now need to fight hard to secure his signature. The club is expected to see many new faces this summer, and Watson could still be among them. Bologna, with a strong record of developing Scottish talent — including Lewis Ferguson from Aberdeen — could prove formidable competition.
