Wrexham Plot Move for £35m-Rated International Star

Wrexham have reportedly identified Czech Republic international Pavel Sulc as their top attacking target, with Phil Parkinson’s side preparing what could be a club-record offer for the Lyon midfielder.

According to reports from Football Insider, the Welsh club are working on a major proposal to bring the 25-year-old to the Racecourse Ground. Wrexham have already set a new transfer record this summer after spending £8 million to sign goalkeeper Anthony Patterson from Sunderland, but a deal for Sulc would require them to go beyond that figure.

Lyon are in no rush to sell their attacking midfielder, with Sulc still contracted to the French club until 2029. That puts the Ligue 1 side in a strong position during negotiations and means Wrexham would likely have to make a substantial financial commitment to persuade them to part with the player.

Earlier reports indicated that Lyon could demand as much as £35 million for Sulc, particularly given interest from clubs in the Premier League. While Wrexham’s potential offer remains unknown, any deal approaching that valuation would comfortably smash the club’s existing transfer record.

Sulc brings proven attacking ability

Sulc arrived at Lyon from Czech giants Viktoria Plzen in August 2025 after establishing himself as one of the standout performers in Czech football.

His first season in France showcased his attacking quality, with the midfielder scoring 15 goals and registering 10 assists in 42 appearances across all competitions. He has already added another assist to his tally during the early stages of the current campaign.

The midfielder is also an established member of the Czech national team. He has earned 24 senior caps and scored five international goals since making his debut against Norway in March 2024.

Sulc was subsequently selected for Czechia’s squad for the 2026 World Cup, further underlining his growing reputation on the international stage.

From a tactical perspective, Sulc’s versatility could be particularly attractive to Parkinson. He is capable of playing as a number 10 as well as in other advanced midfield positions, potentially providing competition or an alternative to Josh Windass.

Windass has been unavailable during the opening part of the season, leaving Wrexham without one of their most experienced creative options in the attacking midfield areas.

A move for Sulc would therefore address a significant area of need while also sending another major message about Wrexham’s ambitions.

Parkinson has already overseen an extraordinary rise, taking the club from the National League to the Championship through three consecutive promotions. Now competing in the second tier, Wrexham’s willingness to consider major transfer fees reflects the growing expectations and financial demands that come with their latest challenge.

If they can complete a deal for Sulc, it would represent another huge statement from a club determined to continue its remarkable upward trajectory.
