WEE DEREK’S NIGHTMARE! Rangers Throw Away Lead at Dundee to Leave Celtic in Driving Seat

Celtic have the opportunity to move four points clear at the top of the Scottish Premiership when they welcome Hearts to Parkhead tomorrow.

Derek McInnes and Rangers suffered a frustrating evening at Dens Park after being held to a 2-2 draw by Dundee, bringing their impressive seven-match winning streak to an end.

Dundee will feel they deserved at least a point from the contest, having given the visitors plenty to think about throughout the match. Rangers were arguably fortunate to leave Tayside with anything after the hosts struck the crossbar in the opening period before taking the lead in the 27th minute.

Bradley Fink, who is on loan at Dundee from Wycombe Wanderers, produced an excellent piece of individual skill to put his side ahead. The forward showed impressive close control to get around Rangers goalkeeper Ivor Pandur before calmly guiding a shot into the net from an angle.

Rangers responded just before half-time, with Badredine Bouanani finding the equaliser to bring the visitors back into the game.

The Ibrox side then appeared to have turned the contest around when Nico Raskin unleashed a powerful effort from distance. His strike rattled into the net off the inside of the crossbar, putting McInnes’ men in front.

However, Dundee refused to surrender and continued to push for another goal. Their persistence paid off in the 69th minute when Callum Jones capitalised on a costly mistake from Rangers captain Dan O’Neil, who was caught in possession after taking too long on the ball.

Jones seized the opportunity, advancing towards goal before firing a low finish beyond Pandur to restore parity.

The result brings Rangers’ winning run to a halt and gives Celtic an opportunity to strengthen their position at the summit. Martin O’Neill’s side will now know that victory over Hearts would see them open up a four-point advantage at the top of the Premiership.

The pressure is now on Celtic to take full advantage at Parkhead tomorrow.
