Two huge Old Firm controversies settled as KMI panel back key Celtic vs Rangers decisions
Fresh controversy from the latest Old Firm showdown has been shut down after the KMI panel unanimously backed the biggest refereeing decisions from Celtic F.C.’s fiery 3-1 win over Rangers F.C..
Alistair Johnston had sparked major debate after catching Mikey Moore high on the ankle during a crunching first-half tackle, with many Rangers supporters demanding a red card.
However, despite the uproar, the KMI panel voted 3-0 in support of the referee’s original yellow-card decision and confirmed VAR was right not to intervene.
The panel also unanimously dismissed complaints over Yang’s equaliser, ruling there was no issue with a possible offside during the move.
After the match, Rangers manager Danny Röhl voiced frustration over the incidents, claiming the tackle felt “really aggressive” from pitchside and warning that accountability would be needed if errors had been made.
