Three candidates Bristol City could turn to after Tommy Elphick disappointment
Bristol City F.C. are once again searching for a new manager after reports suggested their two leading candidates are now expected to remain with their current clubs.
The Robins had reportedly narrowed their search to two main options — Michael Skubala of Lincoln City F.C. and Bournemouth assistant Tommy Elphick. Recent reports even claimed Elphick was close to taking over at Ashton Gate, while Skubala appeared set to commit his future to Lincoln with a new contract.

However, the latest developments suggest Elphick will remain at AFC Bournemouth as part of incoming boss Marco Rose’s coaching setup, leaving Bristol City back at the drawing board following the departure of Roy Hodgson after his short interim spell.
With the search reopened, several alternative candidates could come into focus.
One possible option is Dave Challinor, who has guided Stockport County F.C. from the National League to the verge of the Championship. Following their League One play-off final defeat, uncertainty surrounds his future after major behind-the-scenes changes at the club, potentially opening the door to a move.
Another experienced name is Slaven Bilić, who has been out of management since leaving Al-Fateh but has repeatedly been linked with English jobs. His previous success in the Championship with West Bromwich Albion F.C. and experience competing near the top end of the division could make him an attractive choice.
A third possibility is Jon Dahl Tomasson, who impressed during his spell at Blackburn Rovers F.C. despite difficult financial circumstances and squad changes. With strong backing expected from owner Steve Lansdown, Tomasson’s track record and experience could make him a serious contender to lead Bristol City back towards the play-off picture.
