Swansea City close in on £10m Man City history-maker as medical arranged
Swansea City close in on Manchester City wonderkid Jeremy Monga loan
Swansea City are on the verge of completing a season-long loan deal for highly-rated Manchester City winger Jeremy Monga.
The two clubs are understood to have reached an agreement, with the 17-year-old expected to travel to South Wales to undergo his medical before completing the remaining formalities.
Monga only arrived at Manchester City last month after the Premier League champions agreed a deal worth approximately £10 million with Leicester City.
The teenager made headlines during his time at Leicester, becoming one of the youngest players ever to feature in the Premier League. He made his top-flight debut against Newcastle United in April 2025 at just 15 years and 271 days old, leaving him third on the competition’s all-time youngest appearance list.
He also made history last season by becoming Leicester’s youngest-ever starter, featuring for around an hour in their Carabao Cup meeting with Huddersfield Town.
His rapid rise continued after moving to Manchester City, where he remains regarded as one of the club’s promising young talents. Monga even featured during pre-season, coming off the bench against a K-League XI in Seoul.
A temporary switch to Swansea will now give the youngster an opportunity to gain valuable senior experience and regular playing time.
Monga is set to become the latest wide player brought into Swansea’s squad this summer, following the arrivals of Joseph Opoku and Moussa Yeo. Elijah Just is another player capable of operating in the same position.
His arrival could also have consequences for some of Swansea’s existing wingers. The club are understood to be willing to consider offers for Zeidane Inoussa and Florian Bianchini, while Ronald has also been linked with a possible departure.
At present, though, there is no concrete proposal on the table for any of those players.
Elsewhere, Swansea appear likely to sanction another temporary exit, with Leo Walta reportedly close to joining MLS side LAFC on loan.
The Swans are also making progress on another incoming deal, with a move for Huddersfield Town midfielder Tom Iorpenda understood to be nearing completion.
