Southampton’s response revealed after being dumped out of the Championship playoffs
Southampton F.C. supporters have been left stunned after reports emerged that the club, as things currently stand, have been removed from Saturday’s EFL Championship play-off final.

The shocking development came on Tuesday evening following Southampton’s admission that they had spied on three rival clubs during the Championship campaign, a revelation that has sparked widespread debate and disappointment among fans.
The decision has triggered strong reactions across football, with former Premier League goalkeeper Paul Robinsonvoicing his support for the EFL’s punishment, insisting that protecting the integrity of the game must come first. Speaking on BBC Radio 5 Live, Robinson said he agreed with the disciplinary action, comparing the situation to a child admitting wrongdoing only after being caught.
He suggested that Southampton’s admission could indicate wider issues and argued that the punishment, while severe, sends a clear message about maintaining fairness in football.
Robinson also pointed out that this was not the first time the club had faced accusations of this nature, adding that Southampton had accepted responsibility and ultimately paid a heavy price for their actions.
