Significant points boost update after Sheffield Wednesday takeover confirmation
Sheffield Wednesday will begin next season on zero points after Arise Capital Partners successfully completed their takeover of the club.
There was a celebratory mood at Hillsborough ahead of the clash with West Bromwich Albion, with more than 33,000 fans in attendance to mark the start of a new chapter. New owners David Storch, Michael Storch and Tom Costin were present alongside incoming CEO David Bruce, receiving a warm reception from supporters.

Crucially, the English Football League confirmed that no 15-point deduction would be applied following the club’s exit from administration, meaning the Owls will start the League One campaign on zero points.
A joint statement confirmed the deal had been completed in line with regulatory requirements, securing the club’s long-term future. It also outlined agreed wage and transfer limits designed to support stability moving forward.
Speaking after the takeover, David Storch emphasised the group’s commitment to restoring stability, building trust with supporters, and guiding the club with transparency and long-term ambition.
