Harry Souttar appears set to leave Leicester City after an agreement was reportedly reached with Sheffield United.

The defender is now unlikely to be involved when Leicester begin their league campaign against Notts County on Saturday, with Russell Martin expected to select a different captain for the clash at Meadow Lane.

Souttar’s proposed move would bring an end to a frustrating spell at Leicester, where the 27-year-old has struggled to establish himself since arriving in 2023.

The Australia international has made just 17 league appearances for the Foxes across the past three seasons and spent the 2024/25 campaign on loan at Sheffield United.

His return to Bramall Lane would give the Blades another familiar face as they look to strengthen their squad.

Souttar featured only twice in the league for Leicester towards the end of last season, highlighting just how limited his involvement has been.

For Leicester, his departure would also help the club reduce their wage bill following relegation and reshape the squad for life in the lower division.

The Foxes are expected to continue moving on some of their higher earners as Martin looks to build a younger and more motivated squad capable of competing in the Championship.

Souttar’s potential exit is therefore part of a wider rebuilding process at Leicester, with the club needing to balance financial pressures with the demands of a promotion campaign.

For Sheffield United, meanwhile, the move would represent another opportunity to strengthen their defence with a player who already knows the club and its surroundings.

An agreement is reportedly in place between the two clubs, meaning Souttar could soon be on his way back to Bramall Lane.
