SFA decision puts Celtic vs St Mirren semi-final under early review
Celtic F.C. will travel to Hampden Park on April 19 for their Scottish Cup semi-final clash against St Mirren F.C., with referee Matthew MacDermid and a full VAR team confirmed for the 2:00pm kick-off.
The match carries significant importance for both sides. Celtic are pushing for a league and cup double, while St Mirren have the chance to achieve a historic domestic cup double.

However, attention has also turned to the officials after the Scottish Football Association confirmed the refereeing team for the fixture.
VAR continues to play a major role in matches involving Celtic, and its influence has been widely debated since its introduction. Earlier this season, a controversial red card shown to Auston Trusty intensified criticism and highlighted how quickly focus can shift from the game itself to refereeing decisions.
With that backdrop, scrutiny surrounding this semi-final is already building. The officiating team includes MacDermid as referee, supported by assistants Ross Macleod and David Roome, while Kevin Clancy will oversee VAR duties alongside assistant VAR Chris Graham.
Given past controversies, Celtic will be aware of the need to manage the game effectively. Maintaining discipline, controlling the tempo, and avoiding key flashpoints could be crucial in limiting the impact of officiating decisions.
The semi-final at Hampden is set to be a high-pressure occasion, with expectations high on both sides. While the officials are confirmed, the extent of their influence may ultimately depend on how well Celtic handle the occasion on the pitch.
