Scott Allan picks out Rangers’ standout moment from loss to Hibernian
Rangers suffered a frustrating 2-1 defeat to Hibernian on Sunday, leaving Derek McInnes still searching for his first league victory as Light Blues boss.
The hosts fell behind in the 12th minute after Vanja Dragojevic was penalised for pulling Jason Kerr inside the Rangers box. The decision only came after a VAR review and sparked plenty of debate around Ibrox.

Rangers had opportunities to respond, with Youssef Chermiti and Lawrence Shankland both going close, but Hibernian held firm before Callum Wright struck late to secure all three points.
The result leaves Rangers with just one point from their opening two league fixtures and underlines why McInnes is keen to strengthen his attacking options before the transfer window closes.
Scott Allan blown away by Hibs’ incredible defensive moment
Despite the disappointing result, former Celtic midfielder Scott Allan identified one moment that particularly caught his attention.
Shankland looked certain to level the scores around the 75-minute mark after finding himself just a few yards from goal.
However, Hibernian defender Adam Mayor produced a remarkable last-ditch block to prevent the Scotland international from finding the net and preserve his side’s advantage.
Commentator Alasdair Lamont was equally stunned by the intervention, saying:
“How has that been blocked? Incredible saving challenge. The saving challenge from Mayor was incredible.”
Allan was just as impressed and compared the block to scoring a goal himself.
“It really was, yes, it’s been brought back, but that is as good as a goal,” Allan said.
“What a block that was. Lawrence Shankland, seven yards out, it was destined for the net.
“That’s everything a manager loves. That’s the sort of last-ditch defending you need to come to Ibrox and get a result. Fantastic.”
The moment ultimately proved crucial, with Mayor’s intervention helping Hibernian withstand Rangers’ pressure before Wright’s late winner sealed a memorable victory for David Gray’s side.
