Saracchi finally explains THAT clash with Shankland during Celtic’s title triumph

Marcelo Saracchi has played down his fiery exchange with Lawrence Shankland during Celtic’s dramatic title-clinching victory over Hearts last season.

The former Celtic loanee came off the bench on the final day and made a huge difference as the Hoops produced a stunning comeback to secure the league title.

But Saracchi’s contribution was not limited to what happened on the pitch, with the defender also becoming embroiled in a heated confrontation with then-Hearts captain Shankland.

The Uruguayan later posted a picture on social media showing himself celebrating directly in front of Shankland, adding even more spice to the incident.

However, Saracchi insists there was no deeper meaning behind the exchange.

He explained that it was simply part of the intensity of the occasion and the rivalry, particularly given the significance of the match for Celtic.

The defender also admitted that Celtic had opportunities earlier in the campaign to wrap up the title but ultimately had to wait until the final day.

Coming on late, helping turn the game around and celebrating the victory with the Celtic supporters made the occasion particularly memorable for Saracchi.

He described the feeling of having the Parkhead crowd behind him as something he had never experienced before, making his late impact in the title-clinching victory one of the standout moments of his career.
