Ryan Reynolds speaks out after Wrexham confirm emotional departure

Wrexham have confirmed a major change behind the scenes with Humphrey Ker stepping down from the club’s board and leaving his role as a trustee of the Wrexham AFC Foundation.

Ker, 43, has been closely involved with the club for the past five years and played an important role in the arrival of co-owners Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney in 2021.

His involvement went beyond the boardroom, with Ker also featuring prominently in the Welcome to Wrexhamdocumentary as the club embarked on an extraordinary rise through the English football pyramid.

During his time at Wrexham, the club secured three successive promotions, climbing from the National League to the Championship and transforming its profile both in Britain and internationally.

Confirming his departure, Wrexham thanked Ker for his commitment to the club, its foundation and the wider community, while wishing him well for the future.

Ker admitted that leaving was an emotional decision but believes stepping back and supporting the club from afar is now the right move.

He said working for Wrexham and representing the town had been the greatest honour of his life, adding that he was proud of the role he played in the club’s remarkable transformation.

Ker also made it clear that his connection with Wrexham will remain, insisting that he will always be a supporter and wishing the club, its community and fans continued success.
