Matthew MacDermid has been appointed as the referee for Rangers’ Scottish Premiership trip to Aberdeen on Sunday, August 30.

The fourth-round fixture is scheduled to kick off at 12pm at Pittodrie and will be broadcast live on Sky Sports.

MacDermid took charge of five Rangers matches during the 2025/26 campaign, including their impressive 4-1 victory over Aberdeen in March.

He also officiated Rangers’ 3-0 away win against Dundee, their 1-1 draw at Falkirk and the goalless draw with Hibernian last season. His other Rangers fixture came in May when they suffered a 2-1 defeat to Hibernian.

David McGeachie and Jonathan Bell have been selected as assistant referees, while Sean Murdoch will act as the fourth official.

Andrew Dallas has been appointed as the VAR, with Grant Irvine taking up the assistant VAR role at Clydesdale House.

Rangers will therefore know exactly who is overseeing the officials when they travel to Pittodrie for the lunchtime kick-off.
